  • Jones did the string arrangements for the songs "Drive", "Everybody Hurts", and "Nightswimming", on R.E.M.`s "Automatic For The People" album.
  • John Paul Jones made a guest appearance playing bass on the Butthole Surfers album "Independent Worm Saloon." Ironic considering the band has a song called "Hairway To Steven." Jones not only produced this album, but also played some bass on it as well.
  • Jimmy Page wanted Terry Reid to join Led Zeppelin to replace Dreja but Reid refused and Page then asked John Paul Jones to join them. He accepted and the band was formed.
