Trivia

Trivia and Quotes

Trivia
  • Speaking about her dozen-year movie career with film historian David Shipman in a rare 1983 interview, Deanna Durbin dismissed as "terrible" the quality of her last four vehicles: this picture, Something in the Wind (1947), Up in Central Park (1948) and For the Love of Mary (1948).
  • This film originally was called "For the Love of Mary." The following year, Universal International would use this title for Deanna Durbin`s last feature.
  • "The Turntable Song" (music by Johnny Green, lyrics by Leo Robin), a chipper swing novelty, became the final hit tune (albeit moderate) from a Deanna Durbin film. Commercial recordings were made by Miss Durbin with Johnny Green and His Orchestra on Decca (during the soprano`s last session for the label on July 22, 1947); The Andrews Sisters, also on Decca, The Modernaires on Columbia; Jack Smith with Clark Sisters on Capitol; Sammy Kaye and His Orchestra, featuring vocalists Don Cornell, Laura Leslie and The Kaydets, on RCA Victor; plus Four Chicks and a Chuck on MGM Records.
  • During the press junket for the film, a Universal press agent concocted a fake organization, the National Association of Disc Jockeys, in honor of the fact that Durbin played a DJ. The real DJs invited to the junket liked the idea, and decided to make it a real association.
