I thought I had met the last confederate. Ironically, as a music teacher from the north, I met a man who continually impresses me with his demeanor and southern values. He is the one who stands during the playing of Dixie not for racist reasons but in solidarity for those, like his great-grandfather, who fought for states rights and a way of life. I was amazed at the parallels of our lives with those portrayed in the movie. I would love nothing more than to give him the gift of being able to meet one of the Adams family members and compare notes, if nothing else. It is just a pipe dream- but a girl can dream!
