Trivia
  • Speaking about her dozen-year movie career with film historian David Shipman in a rare 1983 interview, Deanna Durbin dismissed as "terrible" the quality of her last four vehicles: I`ll Be Yours (1947), Something in the Wind (1947), Up in Central Park (1948) and For the Love of Mary (1948).
  • In September 1947, Universal announced that Karl Tunberg would produce this film and William A. Seiter would direct.
  • The original story, called "White House Girl," was purchased by Universal from MGM.
  • The standard "It`s a Big, Wide, Wonderful World" (music and lyrics by John Rox), sung by Deanna Durbin, was cut from this film. The footage can be viewed on the VHS release of the movie from Universal Studios. The year after this movie opened, the lilting waltz was revived by two vocalists: Buddy Clark on Columbia Records and `Hildegarde (I)` on Decca.
  • This was the last movie of Deanna Durbin, who would remain under contract to Universal for another year, until August 31, 1949. Upon leaving the studio after 13 years and 21 feature-film appearances, Deanna was paid $150,000 for three unmade pictures, plus another $50,000 owed her for this movie. In subsequent years, producer Joe Pasternak, Miss Durbin`s early mentor at Universal, could not persuade Deanna to resume her film career at MGM.
