 May 1960 in France. Lawrence, a student of literature, is overtaken by history. He joined the school officers and sailed for Algiers. There he met Evelyn Garcia, a young Blackfoot whom he falls in love. Despite the tensions, risks and military operations, Laurent discovers a country that surprises in many ways. The young soldier is forced to admit he feels moved by his discoveries. The conflict became more radical. Raymond, Evelyne`s pacifist brother is murdered by rebels. Francis, his youngest brother, fell into a sterile hatred. The French army is engaged in retaliation and torture. Lawrence does not know what to think. He witnessed the deterioration of the situation and is certainly no longer a mere rebellion, but a war of independence which is played here. Back in France for permission, he realized that the country beyond the Mediterranean lacks him. The absence of Evelyne weighs equally. It`s decided: he returned to Algiers. He finds the people who have become close to him. His friendships are not always seen well by his friends from the mainland. Never mind, Lawrence does not let them dictate his conduct ... 1960 Bordeaux. Lawrence Luissac, future journalists, canceled his suspension: he sees his military service in Algeria as an adventure. Lawrence meets with his classmates. Farid Muslim, Raymond Blackfoot, Bernard communist schoolteacher. During a leave, Lawrence made the acquaintance of Evelyn Garcia, sister of Raymond. Bride reciprocal. For Lawrence, the adventure quickly becomes a nightmare. Dr. Haddad, denounced by Francis, the youngest son Garcia, a supporter of French Algeria, died under torture and is the beginning of a cycle of bloodshed.Lawrence took command of a company of soldiers in Great Kabylia, where he met Bernard, who taught classes for Muslim children. Algiers, a bomb exploded in a cinema. Djamilla, the daughter of Haddad (and friend of Evelyn) is complicit in the bombing. To Evelyn and Lawrence, the passion is strongest. She joins him in the prohibited area.
