In the U.S., "shag" is far less offensive than in other English-speaking countries. Singapore briefly forced a title change to "The Spy Who Shioked Me" ("Shioked" means "treated nicely").

A scene was cut involving a character named Sullivan. Sullivan was another Mike Myers reference to the Toronto Maple Leafs (Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)). The scene was cut when the actor left to work on another project.
In the original script, the title reads "Austin Powers 2: The Wrath of Khan.". The narrator then talks about this title and eventually says that due to a lawsuit, the movie will be renamed to "Austinpussy". The narrator then says that the title needs to be changed again in order to obtain a PG-13. The title "The Spy Who Shagged Me" is then displayed.
When Austin returns to 1969, his teeth return to their old yellow selves, although he had them cleaned in "the present."

Dr. Evil calls one of his creations "The Alan Parsons Project", spoofing the name of a band The Alan Parsons Project that enjoyed popularity during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Coincidentally, 1999 was also the year Alan Parsons released his album "The Time Machine", and a remix of the title track includes snippets of Dr. Evil`s dialogue from the movie.
Dr. Evil`s Time machine computer is a scaled down version of the computer used in the TV series "The Time Tunnel" (1966).
In the German version Austin is dubbed by Rick Kavanian, the well-known comedian from the "Bullyparade" (1997). Christian Tramitz, another member of the "Bullyparade" (1997) trio, has dubbed Mustafa.
The line "I`m even better off them [my feet]" was originally intended to be "on my back", but was deemed inappropriate.
In the scene where Dr. Evil bounces the globe off No. 2`s head (in the past), his lines follow those of Lieutenant Colonel Bull Meechum, `Robert Duvall (I)``s character in The Great Santini (1979).

# This movie made more money in its opening weekend than the original (Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)) made in it`s entire theatrical run.
The triangular beams of Dr. Evil`s ship were constructed as a homage to TV producer Roger Damon Price`s two creations, the 1970s version of "The Tomorrow People" (1973) and "You Can`t Do That on Television" (1979).
It took seven hours for Mike Myers to get into the Fat Bastard suit.
After completing the initial filming, the rocket/"Johnson" scenes did so well with test audiences that they went back and filmed more of such scenes.
At the end of the movie when Fat Bastard comes to kill Austin and Felicity he is wearing what looks like a UPS uniform, but instead of "UPS" it says "FBD" (Fat Bastard Delivery) on the emblem.
Mini-Me is inspired by a similar character in The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996). Marlon Brando has a miniature sidekick who dresses like him and even duets with him on a tiny piano.
A true piece of nerd trivia - Dr. Evil`s trademark gesture is an extended pinky finger held to the corner of his mouth. The name of the muscle which extends the pinky finger is the Extensor Digiti MINIMI.
When Austin and Felicity are driving through the English countryside, Austin remarks on how the English countryside looks nothing like southern California. The entire movie was, of course, filmed in southern California. This scene was a spur of the moment thing, not planned dialogue. This is evidenced by Felicity saying "What?" when Austin asks her the question.

# Dr. Evil`s Base in the moon is divided in two units: Moon Unit Alpha and Moon Unit Zappa, the latter being the name of Frank Zappa`s daughter, Moon Unit Zappa.

When Dr. Evil throws the `Mojo` in the air and both Austin Powers run towards it, all voices are done in slow-motion and the voice of Felicity is spoken by Will Ferrell, shouting Watch Out before both Austin`s bump into each other.

# Becky Dyroen-Lancer, the synchronized swimming choreographer for the opening sequence of The Spy Who Shagged Me was captain of the U.S. Synchronized Swimming Team that won the Gold Medal at the 1996 Olympics.

In order to explain the characters and setting to the audience, the distributor attached Madonna`s music video for "Beautiful Stranger" in front of the theatrical print, and summarized the plot of Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery in on-screen subtitles during the music video. Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery was later released in Korean theaters for the first time in 2000 under the title "Austin Powers Zero."
