Originally did not want to cast Scott Wolf in Go (1999) because Katie Holmes was already in the movie, and he did not want the movie to star two TV actors. However, he saw him talking in a hallway with Jay Mohr and realized that the chemistry between the two would be good in the movie.

Got to read the script for Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) for the first time on the set of The Bourne Identity (2002), but rejected it. Brad Pitt then gave it to him for a second time after Liman had finished The Bourne Identity (2002).
