Short BiographyMyles was born in London, the daughter of Jane, who works in educational publishing, and Peter Myles, an Anglican vicar in Isleworth, West London.Her maternal grandmother was Russian. her younger brother, Oliver, is a lifeguard and divides his time between Australia and Cornwall. She grew up in Notting Hill, where her father worked at the church of St. George the Martyr, and attended Fox Primary School. At the age of eleven, Myles moved with her family to Isleworth. Following success at her A-levels, she had been planning to accept a conditional place to study philosophy at Cambridge, but chose to pursue an acting career after being spotted by Julian Fellowes in a school play. Since 1996, Myles has appeared in a number of both American and English films and television productions. Most notably, she was cast as Johnny Depp`s wife in From Hell. She had a supporting role in the 2003 film, Underworld, and (in a brief flashback scene) its sequel, Underworld: Evolution, and in 2004, played the schoolgirl lead in the thriller Out of Bounds. In 2006, Myles co-starred with actor James Franco in the romantic drama Tristan and Isolde, playing the role of Isolde. Myles appeared as Madame de Pompadour in a 2006 episode of Doctor Who, "The Girl in the Fireplace". She also co-starred opposite English actor Max Minghella, playing his love interest in 2006`s quirky comedy Art School Confidential. Also in 2006, Myles appeared in a BBC TV adaptation of Dracula; she played Lucy alongside Marc Warren, David Suchet and Dan Stevens. As of 2007, she is filming Outlander with James Caviezel and Jack Huston. She was also cast in the CBS supernatural television drama, Moonlight, in June 2007 replacing Shannon Lucio. Her first name is pronounced Soph-eye-a. In October 2005, she began dating actor David Tennant, with whom she had acted in Foyle`s War and a Doctor Who episode ``The Girl in the Fireplace.`` In Otober 2007, Tennant ended their relationship, following her move to Hollywood.
