Short Biography

Shanna Lynn Moakler (born March 28, 1975 in Providence, Rhode Island) is an American model and actress. Moakler represented Rhode Island in the Miss Teen USA pageant in 1992 and placed in the semi-finals. In 1995 she was the first runner-up in the Miss USA pageant as Miss New York USA. She received the 1995 Miss USA crown when the winner, Chelsi Smith, became Miss Universe. In December 2001, she was named Playmate of the Month by Playboy magazine.

Personal life
Moakler was once engaged to boxing great Oscar de la Hoya, with whom she had a daughter Atiana Cecilia de la Hoya (born March 29, 1999). After relationships with actor Dennis Quaid and rock star Billy Idol, she married Travis Barker, drummer for the band (+44), and formerly of blink-182 and The Transplants. Moakler and Barker starred in the MTV reality show Meet the Barkers, and had two children together - son Landon, (born October 9, 2003) and daughter Alabama (born December 24, 2005). According to website TMZ.com, socialite Paris Hilton filed charges against Moakler on October 4, 2006, alleging that Shanna approached her at a nightclub (Hyde in L.A.), screamed obscenities at her, and punched her in the face. Shanna`s reps claim that she did not strike Paris; rather Ms. Hilton`s ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos III pushed Moakler down a flight of stairs after dumping his cocktail on her and bending back her wrists. It has been suggested that the Hilton/Moakler confrontation was due to Hilton being romantically linked to Moakler`s estranged husband, Travis Barker. The same website has displayed photographs of both Hilton and Barker being publicly intimate.

Despite Moakler and ex-husband Travis Barker filing for divorce last August, reports have surfaced that it seems as if they`re "quietly trying to give it another go".

First runner-up (as Miss New York) at Miss USA 1995. She became Miss USA after the original winner, Chelsi Smith from Texas, won Miss Universe a few months later.

Filed a $62.5 million palimony suit against ex-fiancé Oscar De La Hoya, claiming he was an abusive alcoholic to her and to their daughter and he used them "as props to promote his public image". [20 December 2000]
