Lex Barker was born on 8th May in 1919 (full name Alexander Crichlow Barker), in Rye/New York /USA. He was the second child of a wealthy building contractor. He was a major in the world war II and he was injured twice in the war (head and leg.) After the war he tries to became an actor. At first he played on the theatre and as light double. His first role in a film was a very small role in "Doll face" in 1945. In 1942 he married his first wife Constance Thurlow. With her he had two children, daughter Lynne, born 1943 and son Alexander, born 1947. In 1949 he was best known as Tarzan, He played tarzan in five films. In the end of the 50th years he moved to europe. In Germany he became a second chance, especially as the Old Shatterhand, in many films, based on the novels of Karl May. 1960 his second son, called Christopher, was born. Later Christopher Barker became a singer and an actor too. In the end of 60th years it was very difficult for Barker to find new roles in films. He was coming to the USA in the beginning of the 70th years and he tries a comeback as actor. On May 11 in 1973 he died of a heart attack in the streets of New York. The funeral was in New York. He was cremated. The ashes was taken by his last wife Carmen "Tita" Cervera to Spain. Additional facts: He was a student of the Princeton University. He spoke four languages - french, italian, spanish and a little german. And he was - unfortunately - often very underrated as actor.
