Arnon Milchan (Hebrew: ארנון מילצ`ן‎; December 6, 1944) is a film producer and businessman. Milchan produced many successful films such as The War of the Roses, Pretty Woman, The Devil`s Advocate and L.A. Confidential. He is an Israeli citizen. Milchan was born in Tel Aviv, British Mandate of Palestine, to a father who owned a fertilizer company, which Milchan turned into a successful chemical business.[citation needed] He also earned a degree from the London School of Economics. It is alleged that Milchan then worked as an arms dealer for Israel.[citation needed] Milchan denies being a dealer but admits acting as an intermediary between Israel and various defense companies.

Milchan then began investing in movies for various directors.[citation needed] Most notable among those directors was Martin Scorsese. Milchan started his own production company in 1991 called New Regency Productions. Through his company and other business ventures Milchan has attained a net worth estimated at about $1.1 billion. Arnon Milchan is listed as a producer by IMDB for many classics films such as Brazil (1985), Once Upon a Time in America (1984), Dizengoff 99 (1979), and many others. Milchan is also noted for being a strong supporter of Israel.[citation needed] He is said to be a personal friend of Shimon Peres and underwrites the Israeli Network which transmits Israeli television programming to the United States and Canada via cable and satellite TV. Milchan is married to former tennis professional Amanda Coetzer.
