Rebecca Gibney Biography |
Rebecca was born in Levin, New Zealand on December 14, 1964. And that makes her 37 years old. She was born as the youngest of six children and grew up in Wellington on the north of New Zealand`s two islands. But at 19 she crossed the Tasman-sea and she`s now one of Australia`s most appreciated actresses.
Before she decided to go into acting she worked as a model and had small jobs in New Zealand. Her break-through came in Australia with her role in the children`s program: "The Zoo Family" and a while after that she went to the audition for "The Flying Doctors". The role as Emma Plimpton was something Rebecca wanted badly, therefore she turned up without makeup and in baggy clothes, all to look like the character. And she got the part immediately. Afterwards Rebecca has said that the time with The Flying Doctors was one of the best times in her life. She married Jack Jones on the 5th of July, 1992 but they divorced six years later. She`s got much experience as an actress and she`s appeared in many productions; in TV- and miniseries such as Kangaroo Palace, The Flying Doctors, The Day of the Roses and Error 2000 and in films like Lucky Break and Joey. She has won several awards and been nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Television Drama for Halifax f.p. The character Jane Halifax (Halifax f.p) was written especially for her. And the series has been sold to more than 60 countries worldwide. |
