Maureen Reillette "Rebbie" Brown (née Jackson), professionally known as Rebbie Jackson, (born May 29, 1950 in Gary, Indiana) is an American singer, best known as the oldest child of the successful Jackson family. As a singer, Rebbie is most famous for the 1984 hit "Centipede". When Rebbie`s mother, Katherine Jackson, became a Jehovah`s Witness in 1965, Rebbie followed her into her faith and she is the only one living child of Katherine who is still is a Jehovah`s Witness today. Her younger brother Michael Jackson was a Jehovah`s Witness from childhood until 1991, despite rumors that he had left the religion at the time of his best-selling Thriller album, Michael rebuked these rumors in an article which he wrote for BeliefNet stating that his days as a Jehovah`s Witness were the happiest of his life, unsurprisingly, following the well publicized child abuse court case of 2004/5, Michael took comfort in his former religion and began to attend meetings, bringing with him the children he was very protective over during his lifetime, and removing their face coverings during Jehovah`s Witness meetings. Michael continued in his childhood faith until his death in 2009, thus the private family funeral service was conducted in a traditional Jehovahs Witness manner. Michael stated in his 2002 will, that he wished his children, in the event of his death to be brought up by his mother, Katherine Jackson, as Michael made it well known he wished for his children to be brought up as Jehovah`s Witnesses, Katherine and Rebbie, being the active members of the faith of the family, have took the children into their care since the death of Michael.
Rebbie has been married to her childhood sweetheart Nathaniel Brown since November 30, 1968. The couple have three children: daughters, Stacee (born 1971) and Yashi (1977); and son Austin (1985) (also known as Auggie). All three children are singers, In 1994 Stacee and Yashi formed a group originally called the X-Girls (now known as Geneva) with actress Lark Voorhies.
