Hello, My father in law and I are talking tonight and he was reminiscing about this movie he made a while back for Micheal Blodgett. It was a video for Fire Engine Sky which Micheal played on his show back in 1965. This is very difficult to find online and he has not seen the movie/video since he shot it and it aired on TV. We would love to have any info that you could send our way about it. Thank You and Mel says that Micheal was a great guy!

The twice divorced Lanetta Wahlgren was definitely not a goddaughter of Mario Puzo. I knew her durning this time. She met Mr. Puzo from a want ad briefly dated him and then worked as a partime assistant/driver for him and his longtime companion Carol when they visited L.A. Durning the 1970`s Michael Blodgett dated around and also lived with someone mentioned in an earlier post in one of the canyons. Ms. Wahlgren was very determined and although not love at first sight from where he was standing Ms. Wahlgrens persistence paid off when Mr. Blodgett became interested in persuing a writing career and Ms. Wahlgren did introduce him to Mr. Puzo. He took it from there. Employment claims can easily be checked and Ms. Wahlgreen was also not a co writer on Mr. Blodgett`s screenplays or books.

Lucette, thank-you for clearing up the facts about your father. I am also very sorry for your loss. I was hoping you would answer a few questions for me. The book, Captain Blood, is one of my all-time favorite novels. I would rank it up there with such classics as Lonesome Dove, I Am Legend and North Dallas Forty. On the cover of Captain Blood there was some very positive comments written by Mario Puzo. Would you or your mother know from what periodical did his entire review first appear in?(and the date). The Los Angeles Herald Examiner also gave the book a good review. Again, would you know the date of the newspaper review? I`d had read that your father was working on Captain Blood Part Two. Was that true? I had also heard that at one time the novel was going to be made into a film. Was there any truth to that rumor? Thank-you for your time,CW.

Michael Blodgett was married for the first time to Lyn Hammerlund. They had one daughter, Lauren. His second wife was Sandy Kirshner. They had one child, Heather. In 1971 he met and was with Lanetta Wahlgren from 1971 to 1994. They were married in 1985. They had one daughter, Lucette. Michael and Lanetta were together for 23 years. They married in1985 and divorced in 1994. He then married Meredith Baxter Bush Birney for several years. They divorced and Michael remained single for remaining of his life. Michael`s longest relationship was with Lanetta Wahlgren, the Goddaughter of Mario Puzo. I know this to be true because I am their Daughter. He wrote 3 novels during his relationship with Lanetta and yes, they were dedicated to her. He also wrote screenplays with Dennis Shryack, and Lanetta Wahlgren. I do not know who wrote my Mother, Lanetta was married to My Father, Michael for 23 years. Yes, they were together during this time, the most creative part of his career.

Michael Blodgett seemed like quite an interesting character. I had heard that in the mid 70`s he lived with former Playboy playmate, Cynthia Meyers. She said that it ended with Blodgett in 1977. Another source reported that he was dating Ronald Reagan`s daughter Patti Davis in the early 80`s. During that period(1976-86) he wrote three novels. All of them were dedicated to Lanetta. Someone should write a book about this guy. His first novel, Captain Blood, is a masterpiece. Quentin Tarantino could make this into a sensational movie.

Attempting to clarify the facts, Michael Blodgett was not married to Lanetta Blodgett for 23 years. My best friend was his second wife and also knew Meredith Baxter his 4th wife. Mr. Blodgett had many wives and many lives. There is no way a 23 year marriage was possible. Her "facts" are not true.
