She is best known for the reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8 which she starred in with her husband Jon. Kate is born to Kenton and Charlene Kreider, and is one of five children. According to the show, she has a brother, Kevin, and a sister, Kendra. After completing nursing studies at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Pennsylvania, she later worked as a registered nurse in labor and delivery. She was featured in the NBC reality TV show Home Delivery, where her home in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, was renovated to accommodate her and her husband`s large family. She and her immediate family reside in Lower Heidelberg Township, Pennsylvania. She used fertility treatment to get pregnant because she was initially unable to conceive, due to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). She has had eight children by Jon: in order of birth, Cara Nicole, Madelyn Kate "Mady", Alexis Faith, Hannah Joy, Aaden Jonathan, Collin Thomas, Leah Hope and Joel Kevin. The first two children are fraternal twins and the others are fraternal sextuplets. Her twin girls were born October 8, 2000. Her sextuplets were born on May 10 2004, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center and hospital staff nicknamed them Hershey Kisses. She gave birth at 30 weeks, short of full term (37 weeks), which required the sextuplets to be placed on ventilators. Several of Gosselin`s in-laws reside in Hawaii, where Jon`s mother is from. Jon`s mother and her family are South Korean. In April 2009, it was reported that Kate`s husband Jon had been unfaithful to her after he was seen partying late one night with various women and leaving with one of them.
In May 2009, it was reported that Kate Gosselin had been involved in an extra-marital relationship with her bodyguard Steve Neild; The couple denies these allegations, saying the woman Jon Gosselin left with was a long-time friend, and that Kate needs a bodyguard for her own protection, but it is otherwise unknown why no bodyguard arrangements have been made for Jon or the couple`s children. Kate Gosselin has said the issue will be addressed in the upcoming season of their television show, which premiered on May 25. They filed for divorce on June 22, 2009. Jon and Kate have stated that their eight children will remain in their Pennsylvania home, and the two of them will move back and forth to accommodate the custody agreement. They have also assured audiences (during the 1-hour episode, aired on June 22, 2009, the same day they filed for divorce) that they will remain a part of their children’s lives as much as possible, and that their divorce, while upsetting and devastating, is in the best interest of their children.
