Gyton Grantley (born July, 1980) is a Logie Award-winning Australian actor, best known for his portrayal of convicted murderer and drug trafficker Carl Williams in the hit Australian television show Underbelly, for which he was nominated for both Most Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series and Most Popular Actor for the 2009 TV Week Logie Awards (winning for Most Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series). He also has many other television and film credits.
Attended Angelican Church Grammer School in Brisbane finishing in 1997. At high school Gyton participated in all school activities including Rowing, Rugby, Swimming and a huge contributor to the life of the Drama department. Controversy arose in early 2007 over Grantley`s fundraising efforts to pay for a personal trip into space. His website claimed to donate a cut to the Starlight Foundation charity, of which the charity itself initially had no knowledge. Graduated from QUT Creative Industries with a degree in film and TV, and is currently featured on their No Walls student showcase website. Gyton Grantley is actively involved with the Australian organisation, Reach Out! He recently appeared in two short film entries for the 2009 Tropfest Short Film Festival, including Being Carl Williams where Grantley, playing himself, is abducted by two criminals who mistake him for Carl Willams after his role in Underbelly. In 2009 Gyton won a Logie Award for Most Outstanding Actor. He is currently filming "The Reef" with ex Underbelly co-star Damian Walshe-Howling.
