Caroline Marie Henn was born on May 7, 1976 in Panama City, Florida. Her father was an officer of the U.S. Air Force, and his duties led the family to relocate to England in the mid-1980s, where Carrie auditioned and got the part of “Newt” in the movie. Interestingly, her brother Christopher was also cast as Newt’s brother Timmy, but he didn’t appear in the original release.
In 1987, Henn won the Saturn Award for “Best Performance By A Younger Actor.” She was also nominated for the Young Artist Awards that same year.
Carrie and Sigourney Weaver have kept in touch by letters since the filming of Aliens. When Alien 3 was released, Carrie was at the release show, sitting togheter with Sigourney. Weaver expressed a concern in one particular scene, one that she thought little Carrie should not see, the one where the dead body of Newt was so clearly shown.
After Aliens was a huge success she was interviewed a number of times, and every time she said she had no intentions to act again. In 2003, Henn was co-nominated for a DVD Exclusive Award for her commentary work on the Alien Quadrilogy box set.
In 1994, Henn graduated from Atwater High School in Atwater, California. She later attended California State University, Stanislaus, in Turlock, California, and graduated in 2000 with a BA in liberal studies. In 2005, Carrie married Nathan Kutcher, a fellow student of Henn`s at California State University.
Henn is now an elementary school teacher. She resides in Atwater, California.
