Brian Keith Bloom (born June 30, 1970) is an American actor. Bloom was born in Long Island, New York, the brother of producer/actor, Scott Bloom and musician, Mike Bloom.
Brian began an early interest in acting, highlighted in several commercials as a child, but made his big break in the Sergio Leone film Once Upon A Time In America. From there he was offered the role of Dusty Donovan in the hit soap opera As the World Turns, which he played for several years. During that run, Brian became the youngest winner of a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Young Leading Man during the 12th Daytime Emmy Awards show for his performance on the series. Despite his success, he soon tired of the scheduling involved in that field and eventually left the series to star in several television movies and myriad guest appearances. This opened his appeal to later roles, which would include spots in Melrose Place, 2000 Malibu Road, CSI: Miami, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Drive and HBO`s Oz. Bloom also starred in a series of 1994 television movies playing Bandit, a part loosely based on the iconic Burt Reynolds role. Bloom is expanding his resume to include voice work on both animated projects and video games. His hobbies include: writing, cooking, and designing and building furniture. He owns and runs an online store called Animal World Network. Bloom also practices a rare martial art known as bojuka. He has most recently been seen in a series of commercials for the 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid directed by filmmaker Joe Carnahan.  The first thing I think about when I think about my eyes is that they`re better than 20/20 and they can see. The last thing would be the color. I`m not interested in hunky [roles]. I`ve been breaking that mold all along, and I think it may finally be broken. [July 2002]
[regarding filming Once Upon A Time In America] I was a kid, unaware of the stakes or what was expected. I might as well have been doing a school play, because to me, Sergio Leone was just a fat man who ate a lot and had a really cool accent. NOW I understand he`s a master artist who I was lucky to be in the presence of and directed by. [1996] [regarding his friendship with actress Alyssa Milano] We`re friends. I don`t date her. We`ve been friends for almost eight years. Our dynamic is a non-sexual one. It`s kind of ludicrous, I guess. I love her very much, though. [1996] I wish I could say that I keep in touch with other people on the show, [As The World Turns] but I don`t. I have nothing against talking to them, but I`ve made new friends and have no particular interest in reconnecting with the people I used to work with. [1992] I do appreciate the fact that the show [As The World Turns] helped me to build up a strong fan following. But I`m not sure that being on As The World Turns did anything for me as far as moving up the career ladder. It was a part of my personal stepladder, though, in that the training I got helped me to learn lines quickly. I also developed a great understanding of camera techniques and lighting. [1992] I`m really not bitter, but in my last years on As The World Turns, I was quite bored. I was disappointed with the direction in which they took my character and storyline. I`d continue to get the most mail on the show and yet, near the end, I was hardly ever on. [1992]Trivia Brian and Scott Bloom`s younger brother Mike is an accomplished musician/composer who recorded and toured with the highly successful alt/rock group Rilo Kiley. Brian`s Playgirl Magazine photo-shoot and interview took place in Twenty-Nine Palms, California. Brian once drove from Los Angeles, California to New York, New York with actress Alyssa Milano and then turned around and drove back with his brother Scott Bloom. Owns and runs the website AnimalWorldNetwork.com Backed out of the Bandit movies once the decision was made for it to go into an hour-long weekly format series. Future plans were immediately scraped. Injured his head badly while working on one of the Bandit movies. He shortly thereafter began studying Eastern philosophy. Performed in the 80s celebrity baseball games on the Dodger team. Additional acknowledgements of Bloom`s work include being nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award as Outstanding Young Leading Man in 1985-86 and 1986-87. He was also nominated as Best Young Actor in a Daytime or Nighttime Series by the Sixth Annual Youth In Films Awards in 1984. At his home in the Hollywood Hills, Bloom has an extensive collection of rare and first edition books. His lifelong passion is writing, composing and recording at his in-home studio. Brian also designs and builds furniture, practices and studies Eastern philosophy, enjoys cooking and listening to a wide variety of music.
