 Bill`s been very poised, and he`s handled the year well. When he has needed to be inspirational he has been. When he`s needed to be tough, he has been. It`s one of those things where he`s done all the right things. He`s made all the right moves. I`ve got a lot of confidence in this guy. I don`t know Kordell Stewart as a person. He`s probably a pretty good guy. But it didn`t matter. I was playing against him. That`s what mattered. If you looked at the way they played, they were soft. We were anything but. Here`s what it comes down to. As a football player you`re trained to lie to yourself. You`re trained to say, no matter how you feel, `I`m fine. I`m the iron man.` There have been a few times I`ve said that to myself. I felt one of these in the Super Bowl, but I didn`t say anything. I couldn`t say anything. I just fought through it. You`re the biggest idiot that ever came out of Boston College. I`m insulted that we could have gone to the same school. I`d run through a brick wall for this guy, simple as that, I had a little boy who looks up to his dad and he said, `Dad, did you do drugs? I`ve never really had problems controlling my temper. I am an intense guy on the football field, and sometimes I get carried away. I got carried away two days ago. I`m just going to make the situation right from this point forward. Can I move forward? I have no choice. was shocked not by what I saw, but by what I heard. I closed my eyes and listened - and you know what I heard? I heard the biggest difference in the game. I heard the hitting on our side compared to theirs. Our defense crushed their offense. On one play, I remember hitting him out of bounds, grabbing his throat and squeezing it like it was Silly Putty, ... `You cheap shot artist!` Brunell screamed at me. `You`re going down, Brunell! I looked at your friggin` face every day for a friggin` year! I`ve waited all year for this!` | ||
