The couple first met in 2001, on the set of the ITV adaptation of Charles Dickens`s Nicholas Nickleby, in which they both appeared. Dance played the evil Ralph Nickleby and Miss Myles was his niece Kate Nickleby. Charles is 34 years older than Sophia.
Dance reports in June 2005 that he dumped Myles in a caddish manner after their relationship became public. Myles was said to be `utterly devastated`.
She had, according to friends, been expecting him to propose. Dance, it is said, had relentlessly pursued vicar`s daughter Miss Myles and told her she was the `love of his life`.
But when the time came for him to move on, her friends accused her ageing lover of treating her `cruelly and bizarrely`.
