The pair met while Rio played for West Ham United. During their relationship, Rio has had numerous affairs with the likes Lauren Alcorn with whom he started dating the same time as Rebecca. When Rebecca became pregnant, Rio tried to reduce his extra cirricular activities. The two became engaged in 2006 and planned for a summer wedding in 2008. The two eventually set a date for 2009.
