Erin was a model in LA in the mid 80`s.and the daughter of singer Don Everly. To quote one of their friends on Behind the Music "when it was good it was great and when it was bad it was horrible". According to Axl the kids in them were best friends but the adults in them would act like kids towards each other and both had a lot of issues they never really learnt to deal with. But they really seemed to care about each other, to the point where she inspired the only actual love song Axl`s ever released (Sweet Child O` Mine).
Little bit of trivia: Axl actually offered Erin half his royalties from Sweet Child O` Mine, which as you can imagine was not an insignificant amount, on the basis that he could never have written the song without her, but she turned it down.
They got married in 1990, allegedly after Axl turned up at her house at 4am with a shotgun and told her he would kill himself if they weren`t married by the end of the day. (Kind of romantic in an...Axl sort of way.) So they picked up his sister and a friend, drove out to Vegas and got married.
One month later Axl filed for divorce, but changed his mind before it actually went anywhere and they stayed married for another 10 months before Erin walked out and then had the marriage annulled.
(Interesting point in this: getting the marriage annulled means that legally its considered to have never happened in the first place, meaning Erin got nothing, if she`d filed for divorce instead she could have walked away with a big chunk of Axls money.)
Erin briefly re-entered Axls life when she got a subpoena ordering her to appear in court as a witness when Stephanie Seymour (Axl`s next girlfriend) sued him for domestic violence. Last I heard she later re-married, had kids and is now living in Atlanta, Georgia with her family.
Its slightly off-topic but its also worth mentioning that their relationship insired the short story `Without You` by Del James, which in turn was the basis for the videos to Don`t Cry, November Rain and Estranged. Although the videos in some places stick closer to the original story and in some places add additional entirely fictional details.
Erin breaking up with Axl inspired the songs November Rain, Estranged, You Could Be Mine, possibly the Alt. lyrics version of Don`t Cry and elements of Shotgun Blues, Breakdown and Locomotive. And an unreleased song called Oklahoma.
